Rona Ising: It depends on how damage is done to the frame.Frames are straightened all the time.
Luke Kosch: With it being a new car, most likely it will be repaired. Insurance companies will not total a vehicle unless the cost to repair and rental vehicle exceed the value of the vehicle. If your vehicle is worth $10K and the repair and rental car are under that, it gets repaired.A body shop will pull on the frame and straighten it to a certain spec. Most shops can get it almost perfect. Not knowing the value of the car and the complete damage, I can not say whether it is totalled or not....Show more
Melissa Lavallie: As long as the cost of repairs do not exceed the value of the car your car will be repaired. Actually total loss value is usually around 70% - 80% of the value of the vehicle, the actual figure depends on the individual insurance company as they all use different percentages. You didn't say what kind of car you have but since it is new it prob! ably doesn't have a frame, almost all new cars are made with uni-body construction. Uni-body construction makes the cars lighter and much stronger than cars with full frames. If damaged, the uni-body "frame" rails will be replaced since the rails are made of ultra high strength steel and should not be straightened. As long as the shop is certified and has a good reputation for doing quality work you should be alright. The insurance company should send an adjuster out to look at the car and inspect the damages. If you have any concerns after the repair you can always call the insurance company and request a post-repair inspection to make sure the repairs were performed correctly....Show more
Rheba Cockman: Most insurance companies have a percentage of value number that will tip the scales on whether or not they total your car. if the current value of your car is $20,000 and the cost to repair the frame plus the rest of the car is $16,000, and their percentage is 75%, th! ey will most likely total your car. These numbers are just mad! e up, but you see the point I'm trying to make.If they do end up totaling your car, do not accept the first offer they give you. Do your own research and find out what the real world cost would be to replace your car by looking at ebay, cars.com and autotrader....Show more
Charis Deguzman: As long as you took your vehicle to a reputable collision repair facility you do not need to worry. You did not indicate the make, model, year and mileage of your vehicle, the insurance company will use this info to value your car against the cost of repair as they consider a percentage of vehicle value (say 70%) against repair cost to calculate whether to repair or total. You indicated you have a new vehicle, so since the value is very high, it is unlikely the car will be totalled. However, if you took your car to "Maaco" I would be very worried....Show more
