Michel Mccaulley: Yes, if you drive with expired plates you will be stopped and ticketed, perhaps have your vehicle towed. You don't need the title to do the registration however, just take your notice you received from the state you moved from and proof of insurance to the state you now live in, and explain the situation. They will be able to advise you. (Get a ride there, don't drive the one with expired plates.)
Lulu Bukowiecki: Check with the DMV in your new state. You might be able to get a temporary registration. You won't get arrested (unless you have warrants) if you get pulled over, but you might get a ticket.
